Ranchlands Foundation

Research & Conservation Programs

Ranchlands Foundation, our non-profit arm, is committed to developing immersive environmental educational experiences for the general public, educating the next generation of ranch managers, and preserving the rangeland that makes all of this possible.

Our flagship program on Chico Basin Ranch consists of field trips that offer thousands of students the opportunity to experience our bird banding station, a prairie-to-pond ecology tour, and ranch headquarters as they learn how land management, livestock grazing, and ecology work together to connect cowboys and cattle with conservation and nature. We also continue to provide teacher workshops, grazing workshops, internship programs, community open houses, conferences, and seminars.

Research & Conservation Programs

The second aspect of the Foundation’s efforts is an ongoing collaboration with government agencies, scientists, partners, and academics to advance modern ranching through join studies, data collection, land monitoring, experimentation and trials, conferences, and other opportunities to better understand how our management practices affect the natural resources.

Funds for our Foundation work are raised primarily through two annual programs, the Ranchlands Art Show and the Chico Basin Ranch Concert series, and through private donations.
