Frequently Asked Questions
What type of person is best suited for this residency?
This residency is ideal for artists who are self-directed, adaptable, and comfortable with solitude. At the ranch, schedules are ever-changing and artists will be expected to plan their own time proactively. The best fits for the program will be curious, respectful of different ways of life, and open to inspiration from the land and people around them.
There won't be daily check-ins or programming, though you'll be invited to join as many activities on the ranch as possible. A willingness to participate in communal moments — from meals to open studio events — will add greatly to the experience.
Artists who do best will be grounded, humble, and interested in more than just making art. You’re also here to listen, observe, and engage with the story of working landscapes. This experience is not for those seeking constant stimulation or access to urban amenities, but for those seeking connection, and creative depth.
Is the residency funded?
We provide a monthly stipend of $350 to help offset costs. Housing and studio space are included. Artists are responsible for all other expenses, including travel and materials.
Is transportation provided?
No. Artists are responsible for their own travel to and from the ranch. You must have a personal vehicle for the duration of your stay due to the ranch’s remote location and the need for independent transportation between the ranch and local services.
