“That’s why I was so interested in coming to the shop. I could see that it was so closely related to the rest of ranching. Yes you’re in the shop, but we are hopefully reaching people that would otherwise not hear about Ranchlands. Everyone uses a belt or a wallet at some point. So even if someone isn’t passionate about cattle or grazing or conservation, they may find us through our leather goods.”
Madi's journey to Ranchlands began in Illinois, where her upbringing revolved around horses, animals, and a close-knit family. Venturing to Colorado for a summer job as a wrangler at Zapata Ranch, she discovered her passion for ranching. After completing college, Madi settled at the Chico Basin Ranch with her future husband Duke Phillips IV. Working with Duke Phillips III, she honed her skills in leatherwork, eventually taking charge of the shop production. Her dedication and expertise have played a pivotal role in shaping the shop and establishing strong partnerships. When not in the shop, Madi is a valued part of the Ranchlands team at brandings and cattle works. She is also the mother of two little ones, Duke V (Fiffy) and Dean.
