Food & Dining
Meals at the Paintrock are designed to be elevated but simple. The focus is on good ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and shared meals in beautiful, unfussy settings.
The Dining Setup
Most meals are served outdoors at camp, close to where guests are staying and spending time.
The main dining area is a long outdoor table set right beside Paintrock Creek. The table can seat up to approximately 25 guests and is within easy walking distance of all sleeping tents. Many guests note the sound of the creek as a highlight during meals.
In the event of poor weather, meals are moved into the lounge tent, where tables and seating are set up indoors.
Meal Schedule
Meals follow a consistent daily flow to support full days on the ranch.
- Breakfast is a seated meal served in the morning.
- Lunch is packed each day and taken along on excursions, rides, hikes, or workshop outings.
- An afternoon snack is served between 3 and 5 p.m., depending on afternoon activities.
- Dinner is a seated, shared meal in the evening.
Cuisine & Menu Style
The food at the Paintrock reflects a modern Americana approach.
You can expect:
- Whole foods and fresh salads
- Well-seasoned, thoughtfully cooked proteins
- Seasonal sides and vegetables
- Unique, well-executed desserts
All of our beef is produced on the ranch and processed locally in Wyoming. When possible, we source fruit and vegetables locally as well.
Menus vary throughout the season and are shaped by availability, weather, and what makes sense for the day’s activities.
Cooking Approach
Meals are prepared by our chef using a combination of methods.
Most cooking is done over open fire, supplemented by a propane burner and flat top as needed, though some preparation is done at a commercial kitchen off site.
At camp, food is stored in heavy-duty coolers that are restocked daily with ice. Additional storage is maintained in walk-in freezers and refrigerators off site.
This setup allows for fresh, well-prepared meals while maintaining the outdoor nature of the camp.
Bars & Beverages
Cocktail hours take place in a variety of gathering spots around the ranch, with locations shifting based on the time of year, group type, and daily schedule. Some bars are located directly in camp, while others are set a bit farther out on the landscape, offering different views and settings throughout a stay.
We provide beer, wine, and a non-alcoholic option. Drinking water is always available at the kitchen and in camp.
